The Hydraulic lift mechanism automatically forms a dust-tight seal between drum and discharge cone, eliminating the need for connecting sleeves and clamps while preventing contamination of plant environment.
The unit can be modified in design to handle a wide range of varying container sizes containing powder or granular materials of a noxious or toxic nature, within a fully enclosed system to prevent atmospheric contamination. The concept provides a machine that is of not only compact but also of 'clean design' to absolutely minimise the possibility of contamination.
The drum is clamped into the drum-tipping unit with the drum outlet flange connecting to a special sealed discharge head. The drum is then inverted using a motor driven or manually operated gearbox arrangement at which point the discharge head makes a positive seal with an inlet docking station mounted on top of the downstream equipment. The inlet docking station on the downstream equipment can include a valve if required.
The valve on the docking station is opened to allow the powder to empty from the drum into the downstream process or equipment. In order to assist the flow the drum-tipping unit can also be fitted with a pneumatically operated vibrator so as to try to ensure the drum is emptied of as much material as possible. The valve on the docking station is then closed and the drum can now be lowered and removed from the drum tipper and another then loaded.
